Indonesia's coffee so can not be falsified and also improve their bargaining position in world trade, especially for coffee that had a distinctive flavor.
This was conveyed by Agriculture Attaché Embassy of Indonesia Rome Dr Erizal Sodikin told AFP this evening, Tuesday (24/02/2009), 15 minutes ago Central European time (CET).
Assessments to mapping of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) Indonesian coffee will be conducted by the Coffee and Cocoa Research Center Jember (PPKK) in collaboration with Prof. Giorgio Graziosi from the University of Trieste, Italy.
Just to know, Prof. Graziosi, who discovered the method of DNA analysis to mapping this coffee, after doing research for 15 years.
According Erizal, PPKK desire is also guided by efforts to map the specific type of coffee in Indonesia as its territory.
For now a new type of Arabica coffee that allows unknown DNA, while for the type of Robusta coffee is still relatively difficult to do given the type of Robusta has the nature of cross-pollination while Arabica coffee self-pollinating.
As the realization of this cooperation, then in April 2009 will come a researcher PPKK Dr. Retno Hulupi to the University of Trieste to conduct research for 3 months on the DNA of Indonesia's Arabica coffee.
